Review Flying Week Tenerife

Back in cooler climes, we like to think back to our time in Tenerife.
We didn't actually expect much from the week. Calima was announced on the weather forecast maps, so not exactly the ideal flying weather on Tenerife. The hot desert wind causes the Canary Islands to overheat and disappear in a cloud of dust.
So we weren't expecting to fly very many hours. Fortunately, the sun stayed true with us. We then looked at other flight sites and tried them out. Since we had two rental cars, we could easily reach all the spots on the island and always had the option of picking up our vehicle if top landing was not possible.
We also didn't really mind the 30 degrees here when the temperature at home was approaching 0 degrees.
In the end, we were able to make a few more flights at Taucho. But the conditions were spicy and we didn't always dare to push ourselves to the limit. Flying at altitudes of over 2.000 m would have been no problem.
It was a wonderful atmosphere. We made a plan over breakfast in the morning to go flying. Often we were quite right in our choices of sites, as we saw many “old hands” later at take-off, who obviously came to the same conclusion about the weather. Cumulux was already on site.
We ended the evenings with a buffet, non-alcoholic beer and wine.
