Due to its location, the Clierf valley near Kautenbach is very narrow and therefore more turbulent than Sauertal. The best conditions are to be expected when the wind is coming from the NW. The site is not suitable for beginners, with a cliff-type take-off!
For your own safety, you should take advantage of the westerly component and inflate your glider further back. You must pull up your glider in the downwind area and only then align it with the wind. Then move towards the ridge to take off. In strong winds, there is a risk of being torn off the ground.
You should think carefully about whether you want to take off in strong northerly winds. The north wind can lead to leeside conditions in the landing area. Once you have taken off and the wind sock is dancing in the valley, it is better to land far behind the top of the slope on the free-flowing meadow.
